In the summer, kids would leave their parents' PC on all night (afk-ing), just so they could play online again, tomorrow. In the distant past, usually the person to get home from school first, would get to log in with such a terrible key, the rest played offline or looked for other keys. Whenever the servers go down there is a huge scramble to be the first one back online with any busy key. Staying online 24/7 keeps others from using your shared key. The key is easily stolen back if I don't remain online with it though.) Edit: I call this "key sitting". Sometimes I manage to steal a key like this from a 24/7 bot when it is restarted and I log in at the perfect time. I know the key is valid and working, but I've never been able to log in as someone else is always online using it whenever I try.
